“B” Is For Blog (Readers) 1

Ive been blogging for a good couple of years now, and I can honestly say that its been a pleasure.

This post is not going to be a post on why I blog or whether you should blog, nor is it going to be a quote to summarise these reasons, as these have already been done.

Instead its going to be an insight into you, my blog readers.

For those of you who don’t know, when someone puts something on the Internet, there are a plethora of tools available for the administrator of that website to find out more about their audience. The most popular method is Google Analytics, however many hosting providers also allow you to download reports containing similar information.

I have don’t just that and here are are my top three facts about my Blog readers.

Its worth noting that these facts are from 1st March 2013 – 31st March 2013 inclusive.

Country Of Reader:

Perhaps the most interesting fact (which actually has be baffled if I’m quite honest) is that over 40% of my readers, which is the biggest category, reside in the United State of America.

This figure may be down to the fact that quite a few servers are in the USA, but if that were true France being second is also an anomaly.

I still find it hard to believe that the UK, the country where I reside comes fourth. Come on UK!

How can the UK be number 4?

How can the UK be number 4?

Internet Browser:

Despite being a blog that mainly focuses on technology (or perhaps technology takes a back seat to my rants?), over 1/5 of my readers are using Internet Explorer! I mean why?

Its horrid, no additional functionality, and if that wasn’t enough, its made by Microsoft!

One things which I am going to have to look at tho, is the relatively low mobile browser figures, suggesting that perhaps I need to optimise my site for mobile browsing in the not so distant future.

Why, I mean why use IE?!

Why, I mean why use IE?!

Operating System:

Well, its clear that Windows XP is alive and well with over 50% of my readers using it.

It is my understanding that Microsoft will be pulling support for XP in the not so distant future, so you guys who are on it, should probably start thinking of either upgrading your OS, or do as 3.21% of my readers are, and head over to Mac OS X.

XP is still alive and kicking!

XP is still alive and kicking!

Well ladies and gentlemen, thats it for the letter ‘B’, tomorrows post shall be brought to you by the letter ‘C’ any guesses on what that will be? Ill give you a clue, its the subject of the most of my posts!

After several years of blogging I am embarrassingly just recently starting to pay attention to these stats.
I guess then it won’t come as a surprise that I use xp and ie.
Good luck with the rest of the challenge.
