I think its a combination of several things really. Firstly my personal trainer Chris has been saying I should do it, secondly I want to prove to myself that I can do it, and thirdly I am now in a position to do it whereas I wasn’t before.
You probably dont have a clue as to what I am talking about, and I cant believe that I am even going to type this, but yes, today, as of 12:00, I have not only entered the Great Manchester Run 2014, but also the Great Yorkshire Run 2013!
They are both 10km races, and although at this stage I cant imagine running the full distance without stopping for walking breaks – I am determined to do it.
Naturally I will be running for charity however I have not yet decided which ones, when I do I will be sure to write an update letting you know how you can sponsor me should you so wish.
I will also be using the GPS tracker on my Polar RCX5 to track my every move, step and heart beat which will no doubt make interesting reading after.

Since writing this post I have uploaded some videos and photo’s of this years Great Manchester Run, as I walked past some of the runners on the way to my swim.
I don’t know if the route is going to be the same next year as it was this year, but the finishing line was almost right opposite the Hilton gym where I work out. So if I am still a member there, right after the run I can fall into the jacuzzi and remain there for the rest of the day.
Some people have commented on twitter this year the fact that 10km really is not that far, and whilst I agree distance wise its not, for someone who has never done any form of race before, and is not a huge fan of running, its going to be a challenge.
I am however looking forward to meeting new people, getting a medal, and raising money for some worthy causes.
